Timber Care

Taking good care of your solid timber purchase will ensure its longevity. Because every piece of wood is unique, the beauty of handcrafted furniture is its individuality. Our signature timber furniture is handcrafted by skilled craftsmen in India using traditional wood working and construction techniques.

Although every Vast wood product is kiln dried, carefully treated and put through a meticulous two-tiered quality control process, involving sandblasting, sealing and a repetitive lacquer application process, they do require some care.

Hardwood is a natural material which reacts to its environment. Although our manufacturing process allows for normal swelling of the drawers and doors for instance, in extreme cases some household environments may cause more swelling than normal, particularly if placed near a heat source. If your piece is exposed to extreme temperatures in your home or interior space and split or scratch marks occur, these can easily be rectified with an appropriately coloured wax, wood filler or touch up pen.

Our exclusive Vast timber ranges made from sustainable mango timber, salvaged redwood or recycled teak however various Vast stores also stock timber designs made from Acacia or Sheesham hardwood, please note the general care details for each wood type below.
